Looking for ways to connect with the divine when TV just doesn't cut it anymore
Is there any such thing as a perfect church?
Not after we arrive!
Like a marriage, the husband and wife are imperfect so there can then be no perfect marriages, no perfect family relationships and no perfect children.
Likewise, there is no such thing as a perfect church, because by its very definition, the church (including the pastor) is made up of a body of believers, themselves all in…. spiritual transition; not yet perfected. This further adds to the imperfection of the local church body, as well as, the church universal. So as soon as we begin attending— imperfection is increased.
And if you are a perfectionist, then you are going to be miserable whether in your marriage, employment, or church. Furthermore, being dissatisfied with yourself and your surroundings, you are going to make everybody else around you miserable as well. Why? Because being the obsessive, compulsive, intolerant, critical perfectionist you are—nothing will ever really be good enough for you.
Your spouse, your children, your boss, your church and it’s fellowship, will never measure up or be quite to your liking. The preacher or teacher will never be prepared enough, the music, praise and worship will either not be up to date, or because it’s up to date, could not possibly be “spiritual” enough to suit you.
You will bounce around from relationship to relationship, from job to job, and from church to church. And not being able to get away from yourself; wherever you go, there you are again, multiplying additional imperfection, dissatisfaction and misery to yourself and to others.
Until we get to heaven— Jesus is our perfection. And it is not perfection that God is looking for in His children; it is an attitude of gratitude, satisfaction and excellence.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10.
So let us not be driven by an attitude of unloving, self-centered perfectionism and dissatisfaction; but by a loving attitude of grace to all those we meet; “especially those of the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:10)

he is not perfect, she is not perfect, u r not perfect, i am not perfect, the pastor is not perfect, the deacon is not perfect, so when all the imperfect ppl come together, surely the congregation/church is not perfect.
zzisle:
Jesus is perfect and He can transform our lives. We must be willing to give our lives to him
in total surrender.
