Looking for ways to connect with the divine when TV just doesn't cut it anymore
When life keeps us under it’s thumb, it’s not hard to understand why we often wonder, “Where’s God in all of this?”.
This blog shares some of our experiences and insights into recognizing the divine at work around us, in us or simply our efforts to reach out and connect with God in anyway possible.

Greetings! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and tell you I really enjoy reading your articles.
Just bookmarked you!!
Really enjoyed taking a “stroll” on this blog it really seems to have a solid mission of engaging in some serious dialogue between God and culture. There is definitely some strong apologetics happening here in search of truth. I will be praying for continuous fruit in your efforts, I too have a blog tracking my journey in church planting if you have the time check it out jamesdhart.org.
James:
I will surely check out your blog. I have been ill lately so I am not blogging with the same intensity that I used to do.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your comments.

Sorry to comment on such an old article, but I strongly disagree with your characterization of Marilyn Hickey and I couldn’t find a place to comment on that article directly. I was fairly close to the Hickeys at the peak of their ministry and spent time in their home and traveled with them to many destinations around the world.
I don’t like most of their fundraising. But, you are judging their hearts without (as best I can tell) ever having so much as met them. That, I think, is dangerous business. Only God knows the heart. The purpose of those mail-in responses is to encourage people to step out in faith and take action on their trust in God. I agree that it’s gimmicky and someone systematized. But I assure you that they take seriously all of those responses and devote hours of time praying over those needs, sincerely trusting God for His divine intervention in the lives of those who call or write. I don’t like the method, but from all I saw, the heart is right.
I’ll never forget the sweet devotion of Marilyn. She would spend every down moment in an airport memorizing Scripture, thereby memorizing the entire New Testament, as I recall. She said that she would sometimes sleep on the floor, so that her discomfort would keep her mind on Christ throughout the restless night. And her home was anything but luxurious. Although I think she’s moved in recent years, the home that Sarah grew up in was a simple, split-level home of under 2,500 feet. To this day it’s not even worth HALF a million dollars, let alone “multi-millions.”
The last time I saw her a couple of years ago (I no longer live in Denver), she told me about doing a healing service in a Mosque in Detroit. It sounds as if you’re calling her a liar about ministering to Muslims. But, I think you should check your facts.
As for her exegesis, again, I disagree with much. But, while I may disagree with you too, I would be wary of judging your heart. And to characterize her as a money-grubbing charlatan is absurd.
Please consider your words carefully. I’ve personally been touched, and built up in my faith, by the ministry of Marilyn Hickey. Countless others around the world would say likewise. I’m pleased to say that I recognize her by her fruit.
David:
Have you read “Christianity in Crisis–21st Century” by Hank Hanegraaff?
Hank is president of the Christian Research Institute which is an apologitics ministry based in Charlotte, North Carolina. My articles are based on well-researched and well-founded facts. Does Marilyn adhere to biblical principles? I would challenge that she does.
Thanks for your comment
